While the U.S. EPA has withdrawn approval of all oil and grease test methods that use Freon 113, which includes test methods 413.1 & 418.1, there are no EPA restrictions on using Freon 113 in your lab for general purposes. In addition, irregardless of the April 11, 2007 effective date of the final ruling, the EPA will allow the continued use of test methods 413.1 & 418.1 for the duration of your existing permit.
